Jennifer and I headed to Stonecrest Plaza in Charlotte to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I know, a lot of you out there use the very cliché line: “I don’t do Hallmark holidays.” Well, I do, and it’s not the only time during the year I do things for my wife either. It’s just another day to celebrate our marriage.
We started with lunch at Firebirds Wood Fired Grille which was great! The only downside was they were only using the dinner menu all day, yet they conveniently “forgot” to tell everyone that came through the door.
Then we headed to Dish It Out pottery painting studio. It’s something Jennifer has always wanted to do. It was a lot of fun and we spent about 3.5 hours in there. It’s was pretty much all couples with very happy wives so don’t make fun. Here are some pictures of the artwork.
By the way, we were supposed to watch “Mall Cop” but ran out of time. I guess we’ll just have to wait till it’s comes out on Redbox.

It’s time for 24! I must say, Jack is back with a vengence. This seaon might end up being as good as the first or second ones. I know that’s a tall order, but it’s great so far.
The best part? Watching it with my amazing wife!

Where have you been? You’ve missed a lot here at philbaucom.wordpress.com. So so so much has happened over the past couple of months:
- 704 is really starting to roll. Stay up to date @ the 704 blog
- So far $35,000 has come in for 704!
- We have a couple of awesome churches coming up that we are presenting at. North Albemarle Baptist this Sunday (7th) and Highland Baptist in January. If you’re interested in hearing the all out presentation feel free to stop by.
- Jennifer and I got a new dog-Lucy. She came from the pound. See picture below.
- I started back the couch to 5k running program. I finished week 3 day 1 tonight.
- David Morton, world’s greatest photographer, did an awesome photo shoot for us. I’m going to throw them up on our flickr account soon. They are a must see because he took somebody as ugly as me and made the pictures look good! (It’s probably all because of my beautiful wife though)
- Thanksgiving was AWESOME!!
- I have the world’s most amazing wife!!! I gotta say, I’m crazy about her!

Tell all your friends! Alert the media! I am back!
Yes friends, after quite a hiatus for various reasons (vacation, family health problems, and a few financial “emergencies”) I am ready and able to get back to blogging, and with a vengeance I might add.
I am very happy to report that my grandfather, who had a stroke recently, is making great progress with his physical therapy. He is blowing the average stroke patients out of the water! (not that it is a competition) It is encouraging to watch him recover.
Actually I am spending the night with him at the hospital (Stanly Regional) tonight and there is some good ol free internet! One of life’s great joys! We have also been extremely pleased with the nursing staff in the rehab center. They are amazing! As long as things continue to go well, he should make it home next Thursday. Please keep praying!
I have lots of blogging to catch up on, so stay tuned! For now, I leave you with the biggest praying mantis I have ever seen. He bit my face off, but I got it back.

I’ve been absent for a while because my grandfather had a severe stroke while on vacation at Myrtle Beach this past Tuesday night. Between that and several other things I have had no time for blogging (and I am not fortunate enough to blog from an iPhone…).
Your prayers would be greatly appreciated for him and my family. He is currently in the Rehabilitation Center at Stanly Regional and the staff there is excellent! (I went to school with 2 of the RNs). I sat with him today as he started his physical therapy. It will be a few weeks before he can come home, but he is making great progress after just one full week.
I’ll be staying there tonight and I don’t anticipate much sleep, so I will continue on reading in what is turning out to be a great book, The Shack. Everybody I know has read it, including all of their extended family, so I thought I should join the party. I just finished Confessions of a Reformission Rev, which was incredible. I’ll write a review soon.
So if you don’t hear from me much for a bit, at least you know I have a good excuse.

So yesterday Jennifer and I started the “Couch to 5K” running program. We have been so inspired by THE American Idol, Paul Jenkins, and his crazy progress through the program that we just had to give it a go. I think he’s up to like a 4 and a 1/2 minute mile now. Word on the street is he ran to Maine in one day last week, just for a lobster roll.
Anyways, I felt like I had really accomplished something and look forward to continuing the program. If you follow the plan, you are supposed to be able to run a 5K without stopping after 9 weeks. It works by having you alternate jogging and walking, gradually increasing the length of time you jog and decreasing the time you walk.
There is a marathon on September 20th (the day after I finish week 7) that I am planning on running in with Paul and Jennifer (if she agrees). That is my short-term goal. I might not be able to make the whole thing running but I will definitely complete it.
My long-term goal is to be Arnold Schwarzenegger’s body double in his upcoming film, “Gun’s Blazing and Hover Rounds Racing.” I should be ready in a few months.

We got back from vacation Saturday, but I am just now getting around to blogging. I would have blogged more at the beach but the internet connection available was dumber than a box of hair.

(If you would like to see more pictures Jennifer put like 8 thousand up over at her blog)
Lots of different things to blog about coming up though this week and next, so stick with me.
This morning, some weird guy came to the door and said:
“Is you mom or dad home?”
How do you think I replied? Did I…
A-dropkick him in the throat
B-with a lisp and a Fred voice, tell him I’m not allowed to talk to strangers
C-with a Chuck Norris voice, say “This is my house, fool.”
If you chose (C) you are correct, minus the fool part. He was selling educational material for grades Pre-K through High school. Can anyone say ambiguity? Strange. By the way, the kid looked younger than me. You think he would have been able to sense the adulthood all over me.

Well, on the way to our glorious 1 week getaway Saturday, Jennifer and I had a wreck. We were only about 1 hour in to the drive to Myrtle Beach. Luckily it just ripped my front bumper off and busted the wiper fluid hose. I don’t mind bugs on the shield anyway. We grabbed some zip ties and secured the rest of the bumper on so it wouldn’t be flappin and finished the drive.
We’ll take care of insurance stuff AFTER the trip. Here is a nice shot of the damage. It looks like our car never brushed and it’s teeth fell out…

No individuals were injured in this accident. However, due to my stupidity, I was injured slightly. In an attempt to release some frustration after having an accident, I decided to see how hard I could punch the turn lane with my fist. Unfortunately I punched it too hard and my hand is a bit swollen (less today than yesterday).

Well Jennifer and I are headed to the beach (North Myrtle) for a WHOLE WEEK tomorrow! She’s working from 9-1 tomorrow, and I’m picking her up from work. As soon as she steps foot in the car we’re off! Well, I guess I’ll let her step both feet in.
We are staying from Saturday to Saturday and splitting a condo with some college friends, Clint and Rebecca Spicer. The condo is on $525 for the whole week, combined! We’re getting a great deal and get to hang out with some cool people. Clint works for Lowe’s Corporate and is one of the guys who hooked us up with the old Lowe’s building for the student revival early in the year.
We’ll be taking the laptop, so if there is internet access, I’ll be blogging like normal. If not, see you in a week!
